Lebanon 2023 Update

Funmi and Luke share their experiences after coming back from Lebanon

Funmi

“I never thought I would be doing missions in another country, I always thought I was only called to serve those around me, but going on this trip changed that mindset. I was so humbled to see God use my profession to help others, not just the people we saw in the clinics but also the clinicians. Even though I was doing my everyday job, … There was a peace surrounding my heart so that despite the heat, the constant demands, standing for hours and the influx of patients, I just happily did my job. I am so thankful to God for this.”

“I got to listen to the testimonies of some of our interpreters and was astonished by how God saved them and is protecting them as they try to live out their faith for him especially those whose families are still Muslims. They were not ashamed of the gospel and this has encouraged me to do the same at home, live out the gospel in my day-to-day life without fear.”

Luke

“The football camps also provided a great opportunity for the spreading of the gospel among the locality. Our numbers were boosted by the invitations we gave out during the clinics, so many young boys and girls from non-Christian backgrounds had the opportunity to hear a short gospel talk, and also to just enjoy a day’s physical activity. We had over 70 children attend both days, and they had a great time playing football, and with the other activities. It was particularly encouraging to hear the children’s responses to the gospel talk, and to hear their enthusiasm about the football.”

“I think going forwards, I’ve also learnt to lean on God more, as usually in the UK, or even in Europe. Having never been to a country where I couldn’t speak the language at least enough to get by, it really challenged my own perception of control. I would love to further put my life into God’s hands. “
